Being aware of your posture, straightening your back, lifting your chest, rolling your shoulders back and rotating your pelvis so your stomach and behind are tucked in will help alleviate musculoskeletal pain; but it feels much more natural if you start with a proper foot foundation.

If you haven't heard the term hyperpronation, let us explain: Just like there are two kinds of cholesterol, there are two kinds of pronation. Normal (good) pronation is purposefully directed from your hip to unlock your foot at heel strike when you walk. It enables the foot to cushion the impact of your heel striking the ground. Hyperpronation (bad) has its origin in the skeletal structure of your feet.  It causes your arches to collapse and ankles to roll inward.

You can compare your feet to the foundation under a building. If the foundation sags, so does the building. Hyperpronation is like a sagging foundation. Your whole body is impacted. Your knees rotate inward, your back sways, making your stomach and behind protrude, your shoulders roll forward and your head is forward of your shoulders -- the perfect definition of bad posture. You are and you look off balance. You are stressing your body, and over time you are causing physical damage to your muscles, ligaments and joints.

It only makes good sense to take care of your foot foundation - even before you have aches and pains.

Over 80% of the population hyperpronates. You probably do too.
