Morton's Foot Structure is recognized by a longer second toe, or by a deeper web space between the first and second toe.

Over 70 years ago, Dr. Dudley Morton discovered that many people had a short first metatarsal bone (place pointer on the picture to see).   By observation he concluded that this condition impacted their gait.

This structure is sometimes called Morton's Toe, and is common among 50-60% of the population.

People who have Morton's Foot Structure hyperpronate!  Hyperpronation is a dysfunction of the foot causing your ankles to roll in when you stand, walk and run.

Medical professionals who have studied musculoskeletal health and who thoroughly understand the connection between the feet and the rest of the body have concluded  that Morton's Foot Structure is among the most  common causes of musculoskeletal problems.

Dr. Janet Travell, who was responsible for getting senator John F. Kennedy off his crutches and who later became his Whitehouse physician, in her book on myofascial trigger points, listed Morton's Foot Structure as a major Perpetuating Factor in musculoskeletal disease because of loss of postural foundation.  She was of the opinion that therapy to overcome posture related musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction will only yield temporary results unless proper correction is made to the postural foundation  - specifically Morton's Foot Structure.
