All pain is real. Persistent pain should never be ignored.
Whenever
you have pain be sure to see a medical provider who will help you
find and understand the root cause of the pain rather than just
masking it with drugs or a surgical procedure yielding only temporary
relief.
Unless you have ignored your pain for so long that you have caused
musculoskeletal damage, getting free of pain is often possible.
If you suffer from permanent musculoskeletal damage it may become
a question of managing pain.
If you experience a new pain, backtracking is a good way to start
understanding the problem. Being aware of your body, behavior
and changes becomes very helpful.
If you have a callus on your foot that is getting painful, you have
at least two choices. Take a little weight off the bad foot,
so it hurts less and ignore it, or try to find out what gave you
that callus in the first place. Is it the shoe, a new activity,
have you changed the way you walk? One choice can resolve
the problem, the other can be the beginning of serious self-perpetuation
musculoskeletal problems.
It is interesting how one pain leads to another. They are
often referred to as compensatory pain patterns. That callus,
that caused you to limp is not so bad anymore, but your shoulder
and neck have started to hurt really bad. So you finally
go to see someone about your shoulder and neck. If the professional
you see is worth their salt, they will find and take care of your
foot problem; the problem that caused the callus that caused you
to limp, that caused the pelvic imbalance, that caused a change
in your spinal curve, that caused the myofascial trigger points in
your shoulder and neck.
If
you don't treat the root cause, all you can hope for is temporary
relief and the problem may come back later and worse. You
always have a better chance of getting to pain free if you approach
the problem early.
Improving your posture by wearing Posture Control Insoles(TM)
is just one part of improving your musculoskeletal health.
Your body needs activity. Your body needs to remain flexible
and balanced. There are a multitude of professionals
that focus on musculoskeletal health, so if you need help, it is
available for you.
