Are your arches painful? Do you have foot pain?

Before you start "jacking up" your arches like a car with a flat tire, please read on.  You may save money and do your feet and body a favour for the long term by avoiding arch supports if you don't need them.

Maybe it's not so surprising that so many people think they need arch supports because  that's what they hear in advertisements all day.   Some people who have low arches even think they have flat feet.

Fact:
Less than 20% of the population have flat feet.  Most of us have flexible feet with visible, functional arches.  Some arches are low, some are higher.  There is no prescription for an "ideal" arch height.

Wearing arch supports if you don't need them is not good for you.  You wouldn't wear a neck brace if you didn't need it, would you? Arch supports immobilize your arches and lead to weakening of the calf muscles controlling your arches and your ankles.  This makes you more susceptible to ankle injuries.

Arch supports are recommended for people with flexible flat feet, and can be added to Posture Control Insoles(TM).  How do you know?  If you have visible arches when sitting with your feet flat on the floor, but not when standing, you most likely have flexible flat feet.

If you find you have structural flat feet (sometimes called rigid flat feet), no arch sitting, no arch standing, don't use Posture Control Insoles(TM) or arch supports.

How Posture Control Insoles(TM)  are different.

Try to pick up a towel from the floor with your feet.   As you try to grab the towel, notice you are using muscles located deep in the upper calf.  Your big toe is engaging, pushing down, your arch is rising and your leg is rotating externally.   By all appearances, Posture Control Insoles(TM) fire these muscles causing the first ray (first metatarsal and big toe) to engage earlier in the gait cycle.

With Posture Control Insoles(TM) your feet continue to function naturally as they should.  You will continue to use your muscles to control and strengthen your feet while you significantly reduce hyperpronation and body pain including back, knee and foot pain. You are addressing the problem rather than just treating the symptom.
