The New Zealand Thoroughbred Stud Book for 2000 carries the breeding records for all matrons involved since the previous volume was published in 1997. This makes the volume rather unique on international standards. Invariably only the foals born in the years under review are included. The first Stud Book produced by galloping’s official body ( now known as New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing) was published in 1900. The current volume carries breeding records for 11,032 broodmares, many of whom have been imported to New Zealand from Britain, North America and Australia. The New Zealand volume is quite unique in that the Bruce Lowe family numbers are included for each mare under review. This is a wonderful aid in identifying the female families.
