TESIO
IN HIS OWN WORDS
Edited
and Published by Russell Meerdink,
Wisconsin USA.
Federico Tesio ( 1869-1954) is probably
the most revered thoroughbred breeding identity the world has known.
Titles
written by him and about him are eagerly digested and devoured
by readers with an association with the business. Consequently
the recently released Tesio In His Own Words will attract keen
interest
within the international industry. The book is a translation from
Italian into English by Maria Burnett involving the Tesio product
Pro San-Animale Experimento , which
in English reverts to Pure Blood-An Animal of Experimentation.
The
title isn't over exciting but the content will provide
a great revisionary exercise for those established in the business
and a wonderful introduction to the Tesio concepts for the relative
newcomers to thoroughbred breeding and racing.
There is a strong
focus on Tesio's affinity with the Czech cleric Gregor Mendel,
whose experiments in genetic pursuits led
to Tesio's skill in linebreeding as a means to upgrade thoroughbred
families. A Tesio attribute was allied with nervous
energy, which had a big bias on his success in both racing and
breeding
thoroughbreds. There are chapters on various areas
, in which Tesio had undertaken considerable experimentation. The
new title is sure to ensure a renewed appreciation involving
Tesio's masterful contribution to racing and breeding.
